worthy of affection.

I posted Psalm 40 some time ago as a sort of declaration for where I was because of God's goodness and faithfulness. My heart was overflowing with joy and I felt like Psalm 40 perfectly described my gratitude for God working in my life. Well...two broken wrists and a lot of heartache later, I found myself not so willing to praise the Lord and perhaps a bit hesitant to give Him the affection that He is SO worthy of. How's that for true confessions on the 'ole blog?
You see, not only did I break my literal bones, several other things began to break at the same time. As I lamented my present circumstances and reflected on my "hardships" and all the broken areas, I felt the Lord gently ask me two questions:
1. Am I really enough/all you need?2. Do you truly find joy in my presence alone, completely apart from your circumstances (Psalm 16:11)?
I immediately was reminded of Psalm 40 and then a song by Shane and Shane based on that Psalm. I felt compelled to share this beautiful reminder and encourage you to look up the song. No matter what we are going through, God is still good and He is worthy of our affection. He "holds everything together" and has "got this," so to speak. He has each of us in the palm of His hand and will never let go.
Worthy of Affection
Deliverer you brought us out of the miry clayYou set our feet upon a rock and you made us sayHoly is the LordWe would declare your thoughts about us one by oneIt'd be too many to count so we simply comeAnd sing of your great love
So we sing..We lift our hands and sing!
You are worthy of affectionYour the radiance of all of His gloryLet adoration fill this placeYou hold everything togetherBy the word of your immovable powerWe sing a song of praise!
We are the broken down and we are the beaten upBut what could stop us from a song of unending love?Holy is the lord
You are a treasure, the hope, the bright and morning starYou are the lover of our soul and you've won our heartsWe sing of your great loveSo we singWe lift our hands and sing!
